Before Williamsburg I was not satisfied with the education system I was in and was looking for better options. I ended up finding Williamsburg Academy through a homeschool program in town, my Sophomore year. I can’t put into words all that WA has done for me these past three years. From the second in your first class you feel a sense of belonging. The mentors are welcoming, knowledgeable, and the students, diligent thinkers. WA has taught me HOW to think, instead of what to think.

If I could change one thing from the past three years at WA, it would be to participate more in class and make more friendships through the school. The thing that makes WA so special, is the open-mindedness of the mentors and students, where your thoughts will not be made fun of or criticized.

These past two years I have gotten into the best shape I’ve ever been in. In October of 2015 I was 5’8” and weighed 240 pounds. I became lactose intolerant and started to lose weight rapidly. I lost 65 pounds in four months, causing me to get an umbilical hernia. I played through two baseball seasons and one tennis season before I got surgery (with only one emergency room visit ;)) Through this rapid weight loss I was able to compete more effectively. I was ranked the number one pitcher in Alaska this year and won the mixed doubles tennis state championship with my partner, Sami.

Future Plans: I have committed to the University of Northwestern-Saint Paul in Minnesota for baseball! I will be studying Philosophy and Religious Studies down at the school. I have the high school and American Legion baseball season, and then I will go down to college!
