Camryn Sawyer ☯ Class of 2017

“Whatever course you decide upon there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.”

-Ralph Waldo Emerson

“What you have to say is important, Camryn- and we’d all love to hear.”- Mr.Brown, My first year at WA.

Those words, in the few seconds it took to speak them, influenced the rest of my years at WA. I had never valued my thoughts, actions, or feelings, and to hear that someone was listening, changed my way of thinking and for the better, changed how I saw myself.

With each class I have grown more in touch with myself, community, and my family. Everyday I have been on a path to becoming who I am, and I can’t thank Williamsburg enough for the enlightenment that has been brought into my life.

Thank you Williamsburg, for showing me that who I am is the greatest thing I can ever be.  With perseverance, compassion, and education, it doesn’t matter the circumstances-with our voices we have the power to change ourselves and the world around us.
